Sculptra® Butt Lift: What You Need to Know

Like other fatty parts of the body, the buttocks tend to lose definition as we age. While helpful, exercise only does so much to reverse the trend — and it’s less effective the older we get.

This is why many patients consider surgical butt lift procedures, which offer very long-lasting results. Of course, any surgical procedure carries risk, and not all patients are good candidates. If you’re among them, you have another option: a minimally invasive Sculptra® butt lift that boosts natural collagen production and restores shape and definition to your rear.

Don’t contact a plastic surgeon until you’ve learned more about Sculptra butt lift. You might not need to go under the knife at all.

What Is a Sculptra Butt Lift?

A Sculptra butt lift uses targeted Sculptra injections to lift and tighten the skin of the buttocks. It’s not a permanent solution, but its results are measured in years rather than months.

Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable filler. Its active ingredient is poly-L-lactic acid, which lasts longer in the body (and thus provides more durable results) than hyaluronic acid filler.

How Much Does a Sculptra Butt Lift Cost?

It depends on the provider and how much product is needed. Patients typically pay between $4,000 and $8,000 for a single procedure, but higher or lower amounts are possible.

Sculptra Butt Lift vs. Brazilian Butt Lift

A Brazilian butt lift is a fat transfer procedure that takes fat from the hips, thighs, or abdomen and adds it to the butt. This naturally increases butt volume and definition.

As plastic surgery goes, a Brazilian butt lift is a relatively minor procedure, but it’s still riskier than a Sculptra butt lift and has a much longer recovery time. You can’t sit directly on your butt for at least two weeks after the procedure (and sometimes longer).

Who’s a Good Candidate for a Sculptra Butt Lift?

You’re a good candidate for a Sculptra butt lift if:

  • You’re in relatively good health
  • You don’t want to undergo a fat transfer or more invasive plastic surgery
  • You don’t want butt implants
  • You want to “even out” your butt’s proportions without enlarging it
  • You don’t have enough body fat for a fat transfer (if you’d get one otherwise)

What to Expect From a Sculptra Butt Lift

Here’s what to expect from a Sculptra butt lift.

How the Procedure Works

A Sculptra butt lift is an outpatient procedure that doesn’t require general anesthesia. After mapping out the treatment area and preparing it with a skin cleanser and local anesthetic, the provider injects Sculptra into the skin of the buttocks.

Depending on the size of the treatment area and the desired results, multiple syringes may be required. The procedure should take no more than 60 minutes, after which you’re free to leave.

Following the procedure, you’ll need to avoid strenuous exercise for 48 hours and massage the area for at least five minutes a day for several days. Otherwise, you can resume normal activity right away. Your provider will have more detailed instructions about post-treatment care.

You may notice a difference right away, but optimal results won’t appear for several weeks. Sculptra takes time to stimulate collagen production, and onset may depend on your body type as well.

Possible Side Effects

Serious side effects are rare after a Sculptra butt lift, but many patients experience temporary swelling, tenderness, redness, or bruising near the injection site.

Seek medical attention if you notice signs of infection or experience nausea, dizziness, or excessive fatigue. And for best results, always work with a board-certified provider who has completed a comprehensive aesthetic injection training course.
