How Much Does Restylane® Cost?

If you’re considering Restylane® injections to treat facial wrinkles and folds or add volume to your lips, you’re probably wondering how much it’ll cost.

Restylane and other dermal filler treatments are not covered by insurance. Fortunately, their average cost is far lower than more invasive surgical procedures, and many providers offer patient financing plans that reduce the upfront expense.

Providers generally price dermal filler treatments by the syringe. Most courses of treatment require at least one syringe, and often more, to achieve the desired results.

How Much Does Restylane Cost?

According to recent data from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), hyaluronic acid filler treatments like Restylane cost an average of $684 per syringe.

The actual cost of Restylane treatment varies between $400 and $800 per syringe, depending on the type of Restylane used, the provider’s pricing scale, the provider’s qualifications and expertise, and the geographical area where the procedure is performed.

How Much Do Different Types of Restylane Cost?

The Restylane family of hyaluronic acid fillers includes several different formulations:

  • Restylane original
  • Restylane Silk
  • Restylane Lyft
  • Restylane Refyne
  • Restylane Defyne
  • Restylane Kysse

These formulations have similar costs per syringe. However, each is used for a different set of applications: Restylane original for treatment of fine lines and wrinkles and smoothing of the nasolabial folds, Restylane Kysse for lip definition, and so on. Depending on the treatment area and desired results, more or less filler may be required, affecting the total cost of the procedure.

Does Health Insurance Cover Restylane Treatments?

In the United States, private health insurance does not cover dermal filler treatments like Restylane. However, many practitioners offer patient financing that can reduce the out-of-pocket cost of dermal filler treatments. These payment plans typically spread the expense over a period of months.

How Does the Cost of Restylane Compare to Other Dermal Fillers?

Restylane’s cost is comparable to the cost of other hyaluronic acid filler treatments, such as Juvederm® and Belotero®. Whichever brand you choose, expect to pay between $400 and $800 per syringe.

Like Restylane, other dermal filler brands come in different formulations. Their precise cost depends on the particular formulation and the other factors that affect dermal filler pricing, such as geography and provider qualifications.

According to the ASPS 2020 data, other types of dermal filler treatments generally have higher average costs per treatment than hyaluronic acid:

  • Calcium hydroxylapatite (such as Radiesse®): $717 per syringe
  • Polylactic acid (such as Sculptra®): $853 per syringe
  • Polymethyl-methacrylate microspheres (such as Bellafill®): $1,058 per syringe

How Does Your Choice of Provider Affect the Cost of Restylane?

To reduce the risk of side effects and ensure you achieve the results you desire, work with an experienced provider certified in dermal filler treatments. These providers may charge a bit more than inexperienced providers without adequate certification, but their results speak for themselves.

How Much Does Restylane Cost for Repeat Patients?

Like all hyaluronic acid fillers, Restylane is a temporary treatment whose effects wane over time. To maintain the results you seek, you’ll need follow-up treatments roughly once every 12 months. These follow-up treatments may not cost as much as your first; the actual expense will depend on your treatment plan.
