PRESIDENT OF EMPIRE MEDICAL TRAINING It is not necessary to become Board Certified in order to purchase medicines or perform procedures; however, like other areas of medicine the more training and knowledge you have, the better your outcome will be and the more recognized your credentials will be. The American Board of Medical Specialists (ABMS), the accrediting body for the AMA for medical specialties does not recognize aesthetic medicine (i.e. Botox) as a specialty. Plastic Surgeons, Cosmetic Surgeons, and Cosmetic Dermatologists are not Board Certified in Aesthetics Medicine through their accrediting bodies. Certification in Botox Injections is needed for your malpractice carrier and to purchase the medicines from the manufacturers. Empire’s botox programs provide AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™, the highest continuing medical education credits provided by the AMA. Empire Medical Training in cooperation with the American Academy of Procedural Medicine (AAOPM) offers the coveted Board Certification in Aesthetic Medicine which is recognized in the Aesthetics community. Receiving a board certification from the AAOPM will benefit your credentialing and is recognized by malpractice carriers and represents a “standard of care” for patients to know you are Board Certified even though it is a self-directed specialty.
